We’ve hand-picked some of our favourite things to do this February half-term - to give you plenty of inspiration to plan your next family outing.

When is February half-term 2024?

February half-term’s dates vary around the UK, so we’d recommend checking your local council’s website for exact dates in your area.

  • Most schools in the UK are off for February half-term between Saturday 10th and Sunday 18th February
  • Some schools will be breaking up a week later, taking their February half-term break between Saturday 17th and Sunday 25th February

Top February half-term activities

With so much to see and do across the UK this February, we couldn’t possibly list every activity on offer. To get you started, we’ve hand-picked some of our top suggestions for days out below.

Zip World Tower, South Wales

What better way to blow the winter cobwebs away than with a thrilling zip line experience this February half-term? Zip World Tower located at the old Tower Colliery mine is surrounded by spectacular views of mountains and the Welsh countryside.

Here, you can choose from four adrenaline-raising attractions. The stars of the show are the zip line courses, with the Tower Flyer suitable for all the family and Pheonix, the world’s fastest zip line, for thrill-seekers - where riders can reach speeds of up to 70mph!

If zip lining’s not your thing, why not test your climbing skills on the Tower Climber obstacle course? All ages will love zooming through the Welsh countryside on the Tower Coaster, a 1km track full of twists and turns - it’s the perfect way to see the Colliery from all angles.

Zip World is dog friendly too, so you can include the whole family and take turns on the rides while your dog can enjoy exploring the grounds.

If you’re heading to Carmarthen Bay or Trecco Bay holiday parks this half-term, Zip World, near Aberdare, is a must to stop off on your journey.

Alpacaly Ever After, The Lake District

Fancy a February half-term activity with a difference? Head to historic Lingholm Estate in the Lake District, offering spectacular views over Derwentwater, where you can meet the adorable alpacas at Alpacaly Ever After.

This award-winning alpaca and llama rescue and rehabilitation centre offers a range of experiences, where you can meet, feed, walk or even trek with the animals, all while learning more about these fascinating species and contributing to the centre’s mission.

You can book onto a group alpaca experience, or arrange a private adventure. Alpacaly Ever After also prides itself on the accessibility of their experiences, making this day out well suited to both children and adults with additional needs or disabilities. The alpacas’ friendly, gentle and curious nature makes for a memorable experience. Plus, they’re simply adorable, too!

The Tank Museum, Dorset

We know the weather can be unpredictable in February, so if you’re visiting Dorset this half-term, we think we’ve found the perfect rainy day out. The Tank Museum at Bovington Camp military base in Dorset is home to one of the largest collections of tanks and armoured vehicles in the world.

Rich in military and engineering history, the museum hosts exhibitions covering the history of tanks, with exhibition halls featuring vehicles from both World Wars, as well as more modern examples from the Cold War and beyond. Here guests will be able to explore and inspect the vehicles and equipment and learn more about life as a soldier and the crew who operated them. You can also learn more about the vehicle conservation work carried out by the museum, and see the restoration process in action.

The Tank Museum is sure to fascinate all ages, whether you’re a history buff or not, the vehicles on display are undeniably impressive. Don’t forget to check out their ‘what’s on’ calendar before your visit, where the museum regularly hosts live demonstrations and events throughout the year.

The Tank Museum is just a 15-20 minute drive from both Warmwell and Sandford holiday parks and offers free parking on-site, making it an easy day out if you’re staying with us this half-term.

Landmark Forest Adventure Park, Highlands, Scotland

If you’re heading North this February half-term to explore the Scottish Highlands, Landmark Forest Adventure Park is well worth a visit. Situated on the north side of Cairngorms National Park, as the name suggests, Landmark Forest is surrounded by spectacular woodland scenery.

In this adventure park, you’ll find a whole host of activities and attractions on offer throughout half-term. Kids will be in awe at the Dinosaur Kingdom, with 22 life-size animatronic dinosaurs along a woodland trail. There’s even a 20-foot-tall T-Rex! Once you’ve had your fill of frights, explore the Ancient Forest Adventure, where you can spot wild Red Squirrels and scale the tree-top platforms for a unique view down upon the ancient pinewood forest.

If you’re feeling chilly after your outdoor adventures, step inside the Tropical Hot House, and warm up in the heat and humidity while you admire the tropical plantlife, birds and Landmark Forest’s resident tortoise - ‘Turbo Timmy’.

Dogs are welcome too, in selected areas of the adventure park, so you can bring the whole family along. If you’re staying in the Cairngorms at Tummel Valley Holiday Park over half-term, this attraction is a must for your itinerary.
