If it were up to the kids, they’d choose to spend every day of their holiday at a waterpark. With a selection of amazing UK water parks right on our doorstep, there's no need to jet off this summer in search of thrills 'n' spills! From whizzing down the flumes to floating gently around a lazy river, there’s lots of family fun to be had at one of Britain’s amazing water park holidays. Take a look at our favourite water parks below and enjoy epic water slides, relaxing hot tubs and yummy food and drink.

1. Alpamare Waterpark, Scarborough

Less than 20 minutes from Cayton Bay Holiday Park, Alpamare in Scarborough is a waterpark like no other. Alpamare in Sweden is Europe’s largest indoor water park and now they’ve brought all the fun and excitement to the East Coast, opening their first UK water park in Scarborough in 2016.

Make the most of the summer weather and relax in the warm outdoor garden pool. Complete with bubbles and whirlpools, it’s great for all ages. Chill out in the beautiful outdoor infinity pool, the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the stunning views across the bay. Inside you’ll find a huge wave pool, a large main pool area and the Splash and Play Area which is perfect for children.

If it’s an action-packed trip you’re looking for, you’ll love the four state of the art slides on offer at Alpamare. Join your friends in a four-man tube and take a ride on the super-fast Snow Storm. There’s also the Black Run, the thrilling Olympic Run and the tumbling twists and turns of the Cresta Run mat racer to keep you entertained.

After you’ve dried off, there’s a beautiful landscaped garden outside to relax in, which overlooks the sea and the beautiful beach below. The Alpine-style spa and wellness centre is also perfect for those looking to unwind. With a choice of steam and sauna baths, a wide range of treatments and jet pools, it’s the perfect place to treat yourself to some much needed me time.

Our Favourite Waterslide at Alpamare

Our top pick at Alpamare is one you can enjoy with your family and friends time and time again. Climb onto a four-seater rubber ring and whizz down the Snow Storm for an amazing journey of dips and whooshing funnels where you'll be spun around as you shoot through the stripey tube. We've never seen a water slide quite this big before, with space for four people at a time, nobody has to miss out at Alpamare! The Snow Storm has an age limit of 8+ and a height limit of 1.2 metres+

2. Sandcastle Waterpark, Blackpool

If you’re staying at Regent Bay Holiday Park, you’ll be pleased to hear you’re only 45 minutes from the UK’s largest indoor water park. With over 18 slides and attractions, Sandcastle is the perfect place for a fun family day out.

From exciting wave pools to daring slides, there’s lots to enjoy on a visit. You’ll find two Aztec themed slides that whizz down the outside of the building before sweeping back inside where you’ll plunge into the water. After you’ve ridden the Aztec slides, try the Masterblaster, the longest indoor rollercoaster waterslide in the world, or enjoy the Sidewinder, the world’s first indoor vertical waterslide.

If you’re looking for something a bit more easy-going, the Duelling Dragons and Typhoon Lagoon Wave pool are great. Relax in the free-flowing waters of the Ushi Gushi Action River whilst the younger ones enjoy playing in the exciting Caribbean Storm Treehouse. If your time on the slides has left you feeling hungry, re-fuel at the Snack Shack or relax with a coffee in Waterfalls Café.

Our Favourite Waterslide at Sandcastle

If you're heading to Sandcastle Waterpark, you'd be mad not to take a ride on the Masterblaster. The world's longest indoor rollercoaster waterslide takes a trip around the park, with open top sections offers views across the whole complex so see if you can spot your friends making a splash below! Our Favourite Waterslide at Splashdown

There are too many to mention at Splashdown, but if you're looking for something unique then you've got to take a ride on the Wave Infinity! Before you head down the intrepid slide, choose the music you want to hear while you ride. Not only is the ride complete with its own amazing sound and lighting system, it's also not just your typical waterslide. The Wave Infiniti will see you flying around the giant bowl before dropping you underwater through the plughole. This one's got to be seen (and heard) to be believed!
